Concordia Visit Days
Concordia University Texas is an award-winning institution of higher education, located in Northwest Austin with a gorgeous 250 acre nature preserve on the campus. Visiting a college campus is one of the most important steps in choosing an institution for higher education. Concordia is a private university that offers an environment that drives students to success, with personal attention from professors, great programs, and great opportunities on and off campus for students to further their future. This short video was filmed on campus, following prospective students on their tour, and talking about what a tour offers. Executive producer and owner, James Headrick, graduated from Concordia with a degree in Communication studies, so it was definitely a pleasure being back on campus to film a promotional video. Empty Net Media has produced several projects for the University, including the 2013 University Gala Honoree Video, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Promotion, and a short documentary about student involvement in the Bastrop Fire Cleanup.
Kara + Garrett
The hill country of Texas might just be one of the most beautiful settings for outdoor weddings. Kali Kate Ranch in Buda, TX, captures the beauty and magic of the hill country and set the perfect backdrop for Kara and Garrett's Fall wedding day. Fun-fact, Garrett is an Olympic swimmer, and founder of Athletic Foodie and won two gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics! The wedding day was all at Kali Kate, beginning with an outdoor ceremony as the sun set. Their ceremony was a beautiful blend between their Jewish and Protestant faiths. After their heartfelt vows and the exchange of I Do's, the couple and their guests partied the night away under the outdoor pavilion.

How I Met Your Mother Proposal
Empty Net Media produced this film for a close friend who wanted to propose in a creative and unique way. Heath and Alyssa love the CBS show, How I Met Your Mother, and Heath knew it would be the perfect parody to set the stage for his surprise proposal. Heath recreated his first date with Alyssa. She just thought they were going to see a movie at the drive-in.. but at intermission this video popped up on the big screen. The short-film was even featured on the Independent Journal Review!
Follow The Star
Empty Net Media spent three nights filming at Follow The Star, an outdoor Christmas production. It was an incredible show with more than 300 volunteers braving the sub-freezing temperatures to make an impact on the community. Then pulled an all-night editing session to turn it around for Sunday services! Check out the recap film below! Follow The Star is an outdoor drive-through and walkthrough production featuring ten critical scenes of the life of Jesus Christ. Professional sound, lighting and nearly 250 cast and crew members make this a spectacular event. This production is distinct from other outdoor Christmas productions because it features, not only the Nativity scene of Jesus, but His death and resurrection as well. When asked “Why the crucifixion scene during the Christmas season?” Executive producer, Pastor Marty Brauer, has an answer for them: “People need to know…THE REST OF THE STORY.”

Concordia University Partners with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
This is a project we show for Concordia University Texas. In December, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came to Bastrop, TX to build a home for one of the 1,600 families that lost their homes in the Labor Day wildfires. We followed students and faculty on the build site as they helped build the new home. Concordia University Texas sent over 120 students to help out with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build in Bastrop, Texas to help a family rebuild after the tragic wildfires over Labor Day weekend 2011.
Rising from the Ashes
Bastrop: Rising from the Ashes” premiered in Bastrop, TX at the Bastrop Opera House on September 3rd, 2012. We were extremely pleased with the turnout, as we sold out the screening almost an hour before the advertised start time, and ended up running a second showing. The response was equally exciting as attendees told us their own stories and talked about how the film related to their own life. Empty Net Media produced the feature-length documentary film on the 2011 Labor Day Wildfires which devastated the community of Bastrop County, Texas. The 2011 Labor Day weekend in Texas remains a painful memory for thousands of families who lost their homes to the devastating wildfires. While many fires raged out of control across this great state, the community of Bastrop was hit the hardest with over 1,600 homes destroyed. Thousands of volunteer and aid organizations flooded the community and have been assisting in the recovery process, which will take years to complete. The film was featured on KXAN
Austin Startup Bazaar
We recently attended the Austin Startup Bazaar at The Stage on Sixth, as part of the 2012 Austin Startup Week. The idea behind the event was to provide a venue and opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, and startup companies to come together and share their big ideas. Attendees met more than thirty entrepreneurs, each demonstrating new technologies and products at the cutting edge of innovation. The Startup Bazaar was put on by Tech Ranch, a technology startup incubator. For those who are unfamiliar startup companies, incubators are companies which provide services to help entrepreneurs launch their businesses through classes, office space, mentoring programs, and networking events like the Startup Bazaar. We were excited to attend this awesome event, and had the opportunity to film this short recap video! View on Vimeo!
